Preventative Dentistry

Prevention is key to a lasting smile and a healthy body. That’s why maintaining regular dental appointments ensures your chances of ongoing well-being.

At Anders Dental, our extensive preventative dental services make it easy to keep a healthy oral routine

Annual Dental Exams

An annual dental appointment includes a thorough cleaning by a dental hygienist and a complete examination of the teeth, gums, and mouth by a dentist.

During the exam, the dentist checks for signs of tooth decay, gum disease, and other oral health issues. X-rays may be taken to assess the condition of the teeth and underlying bone structure.

.

We review your results to provide personalized, safe dental treatments and ensure effective, patient-centered care. Additionally, results inform us if chelation is needed for optimum health. Chelation is a process where a substance that binds to mercury and other heavy metals is introduced into the body to act as a magnet to attract them and carry them out of the body, decreasing your metal toxicity load and improving your health.

Teeth Cleanings

During teeth cleaning, your dental hygienist uses specialized tools to remove plaque and tartar buildup from the surfaces of the teeth above the gumline. Once tartar has been removed, the teeth are polished to remove residue, leaving you with a clean, fresh smile.

Diagnostic Radiographs

Anders Dental takes a fluoride-free approach to dentistry, from the water we use in the

Dental radiographs, or X-rays, involve placing a small, digital, or film sensor inside the mouth while biting down to capture images of the teeth and surrounding structures. The dentist or dental hygienist positions the sensor at different angles to obtain comprehensive views of your mouth and teeth.

The digital X-ray machine emits a minimal, safe amount of radiation, and the images produced help the dentist diagnose cavities, gum diseases, infections, and other dental issues that may not be visible during a regular examination.

Periodontal Maintenance

Periodontal maintenance prevents the progression of existing oral health problems such as gingivitis, advanced tooth decay, and bone loss caused by periodontal disease.

Treatment involves scaling and root planing to prevent complications. Root planing is a deep cleaning that removes plaque and tartar below the gumline. Once the cleaning has been completed, one of our hygienists will assess your gums for pockets or infections. They also check for other conditions such as mouth and tongue cancer, loose or broken teeth, and receding gums.

Oral Cancer Screenings

Oral cancer screenings involve an examination of the mouth and throat to detect signs of oral cancer or precancerous conditions. During the screening, the dentist will complete a thorough exam of your lips, gums, tongue, and throat. They will look for abnormalities such as red or white patches, sores, or lumps

Sealants

Dental sealants are thin, plastic coatings applied to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth (molars and premolars) to protect them from tooth decay.

Often used for young children and teens, these sealants act as a barrier, covering the deep grooves and pits on the tooth surface where food particles and bacteria often get trapped. Sealants help prevent cavities and maintain the overall oral health of the teeth.
